1. ABQ BioPark ZooABQ BioPark Zoo is a 64-acre zoo with 250 species of animal life in a natural environment, including polar bears, monkeys & koalas. Established in 1927, the Zoo is home to more than 900 animals from around the world. Many of these animals have been part of successful conservation plans and captive breeding programs.
Petroglyph National Monument is an Archaeological site showcasing thousands of prehistoric Native American drawings on stone walls. This site stretches 17 miles along Albuquerque, New Mexico's West Mesa, a volcanic basalt escarpment that dominates the city's western horizon. Petroglyph National Monument is comprised of three units and encompasses 7200 acres (2915 ha) within the city of Albuquerque. Established in 1990 The monument is jointly owned and managed by the National Park Service and the City of Albuquerque. Its a beautiful place to take a walk with family and pet dog.
New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science is an Expansive museum featuring dinosaur skeletons, a planetarium, theater shows, plus special events. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center was opened in August, 1976, to showcase the history and accomplishments of the Pueblo people, from Pre-Columbian to current time. Pueblo peoples, are Native Americans in the Southwestern United States who share common agricultural, material, and religious practices. Today, Pueblo people are located primarily in New Mexico. The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center is the Gateway to the 19 Pueblos of New Mexico. Sandia Peak Tramway is an aerial tramway with a line length of 2.7 miles and carries up to 45 people on a 15 minute ride from the mountain base to the top elevation of 10,378 feet. The line stretches from the northeast edge of the city to Sandia Peak on the ridge line of the Sandia Mountains. A Forest Service Visitor Center, hiking trails, scenic decks, restaurant and the ski area are available at the top. TEN 3 restaurant at the Top will offer a breathtaking dining experience. Sandia Peak Tramway was opened on May 7, 1966. It is the world's third longest single span aerial Tramway.
National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Compact educational spot featuring exhibits chronicling the development of nuclear science. Established in 1969, the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History is a Smithsonian Affiliate and the only congressionally chartered museum in its field. Its an intriguing place to learn the story of the Atomic Age, from early research of nuclear development through today’s peaceful uses of nuclear technology. The Museum collection includes indoor and outdoor exhibits of bombs, planes and rockets. It also has Periodic Table of Elements in the lobby. Iconic USS James K. Polk SSN 645 nuclear submarine sail is a permanent display in the 9-acre outdoor exhibition area.
Tingley Beach is a Natural area with multiple ponds for fishing, boating & bird watching. It also has hiking trails & a cafe. Here you can also enjoy Picnic. ABQ Biopark Botanic Garden was opened in 1996. They have tons of parking and lots of space to walk around or have a picnic. Its a Great place to spend time with family.
ABQ BioPark Aquarium is a Spacious aquarium featuring tanks with hundreds of fish. It also has a theater showing educational films. The ABQ BioPark Aquarium is home to approximately 3,000 aquatic animals from a variety of salt and freshwater habitats. The highlight of the aquarium is a 285,000 U.S. gal (1,080,000 L) shark tank with a 12 meter wide thick acrylic viewing window. The South Pacific Gallery features seahorses, pipefishes, and colorfully patterned reef fish. The glass tunnel in the Pacific Coral Reef tank exhibits several types of fish species found in the South Pacific.
